Keizer Man Survives Stabbing (UPDATE)Salem-News.comInvestigators say the location of the crime scene was not initially correct, this places the case out of the Keizer Police jurisdiction.
(KEIZER, Ore.) - Keizer Police were called out to a report of a stabbing Wednesday night that originally was reported as having happened in the 1000 block of Clearview Avenue Northeast in Keizer. Upon further investigation of this incident, investigators say they have learned the initial location described by the victim was incorrect. Investigators now believe the assault and stabbing occurred at or near the intersection of York Avenue NE and Edith Street NE in Marion County. Captain Jeff Kuhns with Keizer Police says they received initial reports from the nursing staff at the Salem Hospital that a male subject had come into the emergency department with multiple stab wounds. The victim, later identified as 19-year old Felipe Zacarias of Keizer, told investigators he was walking by himself when the suspect confronted him and began to assault him. Kuhns says the man was stabbed multiple times with an unknown bladed weapon. "The victim was able to get away and ran towards Cherry Avenue NE and the suspect fled in an unknown direction. The victim contacted friends who reportedly responded to his location and then drove him to the hospital." The man's injuries were serious, Kuhns says, but not life threatening. "The victim was treated and released to family members. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male adult, approximately twenty to twenty-four years old, six feet tall, with a large build and he was bald. The suspect was said to be wearing a black shirt and brown pants." "As it turns out though, this location is not within the jurisdiction of the Keizer Police Department," Kuhns said. It is now being reported to have occurred within the Marion County Sheriff’s Office jurisdiction. Investigators will forward their investigation to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. "The Keizer Police Department does not anticipate any further follow-up into this incident will be conducted by this agency," Kuhns added.
