State Street Partially Reopened

(SALEM) - City of Salem Public Works and Horizon Restoration Inc. crews opened a single westbound-only travel lane on State Street from Commercial Street to the mid-block alley this morning at 9:00 AM.

This section of State Street had been closed to all traffic since the McMahan's fire on August 10th.

Two-way traffic is still permitted from the mid-block alley to the Front Street Bypass. There is no parking permitted along the single westbound-only travel lane on State Street; however, on-street parking is available on both sides of the west half of the block.

The contractor has secured sufficient off-street parking for their workers and should not impact retail parking.

This new traffic pattern will allow for increased vehicular circulation and access to the businesses on State Street.
