Albany Police Arrest Bank Robbery Suspect

Police arrested the man they believe was responsible for the armed robbery.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Albany Police Department responded to the Willamette Community Bank at 333 SE Lyon Street today on the report of a robbery in progress.

Captain Eric Carter with Albany Police says bank employees reported that a white male adult entered the bank just before 10:00 AM, presented a note that demanded money, and then fled the area on foot.

"The suspect, armed with a handgun, made off with an undisclosed amount of money."

Around 10:00 AM, an Albany officer detained an adult male who matched the physical description of the robbery suspect, although he was wearing different clothing.

The subject, 28-year old Marshall Lee Jackson of Albany, was on foot several blocks from the bank, according to Carter.

"Marshall Jackson was positively identified as the person who robbed the Willamette Community Bank. Albany Officers recovered all of the money taken in the robbery, a .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun, the robbery note, and the clothes worn by Marshall Jackson during the robbery."

He says Marshall Jackson was lodged in the Linn County Jail on charges of Robbery in the First Degree, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and a Lebanon Municipal Court Warrant Charging Fail to Comply Theft II.
