(KEIZER, Ore.) - Keizer Police are investigating a shooting that was reported last evening at 10:07 p.m. Keizer Police Captain Jeff Kuhns, says the victim, 21-year old Travis Clawson, died from his injuries a short time after 4:00 a.m. this morning at the Salem Hospital.

"His next of kin has been notified of his death. An autopsy to determine the cause of death is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. today at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Clackamas," Kuhns said.

A neighbor named Robert Moore, told Salem-News at the scene last night, that he came out right after the gunshots and found the victim in his front yard. He placed a blanket on him to keep him warm, nothing that the shots sounded like they came from a large caliber handgun. The intersection of Partridge Lane NE and Clearview Avenue NE remains closed at this time while investigators continue to process the crime scene for evidence. Investigators expect the street to be open by 6:00 p.m. according to Kuhns.

"Investigators have been able to determine Travis Clawson was shot at or near the intersection of Partridge Lane NE and Clearview Avenue NE. He was found on the ground at this location by the first responding officers and was transported to the Salem Hospital shortly thereafter."

Kuhns says the number of times Travis Clawson was shot, the location of his injuries, and the type or caliber of weapon used is not being released at this time.

"Additionally, investigators do not believe this was a random act of violence. They have been able to identify one individual who fired a firearm. This individual is being interviewed by investigators at this time."

He says they are being assisted by members of the Marion County Homicide Assault Response Team (H.A.R.T.), the Marion County District Attorney's Office and Victim's Assistance.

Anyone having information about this incident is asked to contact the Keizer Police Department at 503-390-3713.
