(YACHATS, ore.) - Police on the Oregon coast say the body of an unidentified adult male was found in the surf lane Thursday morning north of Yachats.

Oregon State Police are investigating the discovery of the human remains, with the assistance of the Lincoln County Medical Examiner. According to OSP Sergeant Justin McGladrey, a citizen walking on the beach near Smelt Sands State Park spotted a body in the surf line yesterday at approximately 9:00 a.m. and reported it to police.

OSP, Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, and Yachats Fire Department responded, McGladrey said.

"There was no identification found on the body which appeared to have been in the water for several days," McGladrey said.

No other information to be released according to police, until they have established a positive identification.
