Salem Residents Flee Burning Housefire

Fire investigators are on scene at this time. Traffic on Market Street has reopened.

(SALEM, Ore.) - One firefighter was injured today in a house fire at 2445 Market St NE in Salem. Fire Department Spokesman Bill Holmstrom says they responded to a call for a house fire at 2445 Market St NE at 9:35 AM this morning.

Multiple calls were reported to 9-1-1 and a second alarm was dispatched at 9:39 AM sending additional resources.

Holmstrom says four people were in the residence at the time and they were evacuating as firefighters arrived.

"First arriving firefighters reported that fire and smoke were seen coming from the front of the single-family residence."

Holmstrom says the firefighters made entry into the residence and found flames in the living room and kitchen areas which they extinguished. Fire investigators are on scene at this time. Traffic on Market Street has reopened.

Holmstrom says a male firefighter was transported to Salem Hospital.
