(VANCOUVER, Wash.) - Vancouver Police responded to a bomb threat at Evergreen High School today at 10:10 AM. A student notified school security of a note in one of the school's bathrooms referencing a possible bomb threat.

Kim Kapp with Vancouver Police, says school security notified the Vancouver Police School Resource Officer assigned to Evergreen High School and the school was locked down immediately.

"Vancouver Police, in coordination with school security and the Evergreen School District, then evacuated the high school and moved students to nearby Cascade Middle School, which was also put into lockdown along with Legacy High School." Kapp said.

Students from all three schools were sent home and officers from the Metro Explosive Disposal Unit (MEDU) responded to assess the situation.

In the Vancouver PD news release, it was noted that "one additional suspicious device was located outside of the school, along with a backpack located outside the school sitting out in the open on the Evergreen High School campus." We have asked Kapp to explain whether or not more than one device was located.

Officers from MEDU used a water bomb to safely destroy the backpack and after inspection of the other two devices determined that neither was explosive in nature/

Kapp says the investigation into the threat and the devices is still ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
