(PORTLAND, Ore) - Multnomah County Sheriff's Office responded to a call on the Sandy River of deceased person on the river bank today at approximately 11:35 a.m.

Lt. Mary Lindstrand with the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, says the body was discovered by a man floating down river on a fishing trip. The body is an adult male.

The identity is not known at this time and will be determined by the coroner.

"The citizen that located the body was able to call 911 after obtaining cell service in this very remote area. Dispatch was able to determine the caller's approximate location," Lindstrand said.

"The gentleman was requested to cross the river in his boat to a house that was not visible to the caller due to dense trees."

Lindstram says dispatch requested him to provide the address of the house, and this enabled Sheriff's deputies to respond much faster to the scene.

Had the location of the call not been determined, MCSO would have had to launch a boat and float down river in an attempt to locate the fisherman and the body.

We will bring you more information on the deceased person as it becomes available.
