Chains or Traction Tires Required on Washington County Roads

This is an update on traction device and chain requirements‏ througout Washington County.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - The Oregon Department of Transportation and Washington County are requiring chains and/or traction tires on all state and county roads.

They're asking drivers to use the following guidelines:

  • 2 wheel drive vehicles must use chains or traction tires
  • 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicles must use mud and snow tires, all season radials, or traction tires on all wheels and must carry chains.
