Salem Police Investigate Homicide

Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot and then observed Estrada collapse on the sidewalk near the parking lot of the complex.

(SALEM) - At about 2:00 PM Saturday, Salem Patrol Officers responded to a subject down on the sidewalk near the parking lot of an apartment complex at 2530 Broadway Ave. NE.

Responding Officers confirmed that the male subject had a gunshot wound. 28-year old Jose Luis Estrada was transported to Salem Hospital by ambulance, but died before they got there.

Police say it is not known at this point where Estrada resides. Next of kin have been notified of the incident.

Detectives have responded and are continuing with the investigation. Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot and then observed Estrada collapse on the sidewalk near the parking lot of the complex.

A vehicle of interest which was observed leaving the area is described as a white 1991 Geo Metro, Oregon License #RXB 614.

An autopsy is scheduled for Mr. Estrada on Tuesday, Dec. 26th. At this point, no suspect/s have been identified.
