(VANCOUVER, Wash.) - Police say a Vancouver woman driving a 2002 Dodge Dakota pickup ran over three 12-year old girls that were walking in an unmarked crosswalk, within a residential neighborhood in Vancouver, Washington. The collision occurred at 5:40 PM Sunday at the residential intersection of NE 94th Ave and NE 96th Street, just north of the Padden Parkway in Vancouver, according to Sgt. Michael McCabe of the Clark County Sheriff's Office. "Other motorists as well as residents of the neighborhood all rushed to the aid of the girls, providing comfort and basic first aid until emergency medical personnel arrived." The Clark County Sheriff's Office, Vancouver Fire Department and AMR all responded to the scene. McCabe says all three girls were transported by ambulance to local hospitals. "At this time the full extent of the girl's injuries are not known, however the injuries are not believed to be life threatening." He says the names of the girls have been withheld pending the notification of family and friends. The Clark County Sheriff's Office conducted an investigation of the collision scene. The female driver, identified as Tiffany M. Hovis, of Vancouver, was arrested at the scene and transported to the Clark County Jail where she was booked on three 3 counts of Vehicular Assault and one count of DUI.
