(JUNCTION CITY, Ore.) - A Noti-area man died Wednesday morning when the sport utility vehicle he was a passenger in lost control on Territorial Highway west of Junction City and rolled multiple times. Next of kin notifications have been done and the highway was re-opened by 11:30 AM.

According to preliminary information from Oregon State Police Sergeant Ron Martin, this morning at approximately 7:45 AM, a 2005 Subaru sport utility vehicle driven by 29-year old Rebecca Ruth Halland of Noti, was northbound on Territorial Highway near Berg Road when she apparently lost control on a patch of ice.

The SUV drove into a ditch on the east side and rolled multiple times. The vehicle came to a rest on its top in a field off the highway.

Rebecca Halland was not injured, but her 58-year old husband, Clifford Dale Guse was a passenger and he was pronounced deceased at the scene. Troopers believe he was using safety restraints.

OSP troopers from the Springfield Area Command office are continuing the investigation. ODOT and Monroe Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Dear Sir/Madam:

We have conducted a number of rollover tests on the Subaru Forester in which the vehicle did well. Do you know what model this Subaru was? This picture indicate that the roof on the passenger side of the vehicle was crushed and that the vehicle rolled driver side leading (coming toward us in the picture): is that true?

Thank you,

Carl E. Nash, Ph.D.

Editor to Carl: Carl, feel free to email me at newsroom@salem-news.com and I will be happy to send you the original media release with the investigating agency's contact information, I think they could fill in the details for you

Thanks,

Tim King
