Ron Paul Stands Out Among Republicans as a Man of Change

Ron Paul is one of the few GOP contenders willing to challenge the status quo.

Presidential Candidate Ron Paul
Presidential Candidate Ron Paul

(SALEM, Ore.) - Advocates for Republican Presidential Candidate Ron Paul say they are holding fast to a candidate who offers more sweeping change for a nation than any of his fellow GOP running mates.

At this time, there are 2 Democratic and 4 Republican presidential candidates remaining in the race. Of the 6, only Ron Paul stands for American ideals and has the record to prove it.

One Ron Paul supporter in Salem, Terry Hamel, says it is important to note that the other Republicans voted to fund the war against Iraq - a nation that has no army, navy or air force, and that Iraq never threatened us.

Yet he cites the fact that it still is costing the American taxpayers billions of dollars that could be better spent. Hamel also says it is important that Ron Paul did not vote for what he calls the "misnamed Patriot Act", "which strips ambiguous 'enemy combatant' of their right to a trial."

Another thing that set Ron Paul apart from the other Republicans is the fact that they voted for the Real ID act that strips citizen privacy while restricing their entrance into a Federal building without it. Ron Paul has consistently voted against all these bills.

"Ron Paul is a true statesman, having fought for America principles in Congress for 20 years. He is also a student of free market solutions and has the agreement of former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, and is the only presidential candidate talking about fixing our ailing economy."

"Of course, one would expect a perfect root diagnosis from a successful physician and former Air Force flight surgeon," Hamel added.

"These are but a few reasons I advocate Ron Paul for president. I am a first time voter who has gone from feeling helpless to helpful, spreading the message of peace, prosperity and liberty in the States as their hold their elections. I use my own time, money, but the inspiration belongs to Ron Paul. I encourage all readers to seriously look at his solutions and find out why he is capturing one-third of the delegates in multiple State elections."

Hamel's opinions are very consistent with those of other Ron Paul supporters. Many acknowledge that it is an uphill battle but most say they will stay in the fight and back their candidate all the way through the process.

Do you know how to become a Ron Paul Delegate in Salem Oregon??

Ron Holland February 11, 2008 7:18 pm (Pacific time)

Ron Paul spoke at the FreedomFest conference last year and he has been invited again this year to join our 100 plus speakers and 1,000 plus attendees in Las Vegas on July 10 -12 at Freedomfest 2008. We must do what we can to get the message of liberty, a return to limited constitutional government and free markets out to the American public. See www.freedomfest.com

We love Ron Paul in Europe as well.

Henry Ruark February 7, 2008 11:33 am (Pacific time)

To all: Note sudden shift by loud self-puffed up pundit from Romney, now that one has faced reality. Many who favor Paul will soon find themselves deeply distressed by only possible outcome, but interest in the possibilities involved is a good sign, at least.

For you Ron Paul supporters it's time to see how veterans really assess Ron Paul: Veterans’ Views of the Presidential Candidates According to data from more than 3,000 combined interviews via Gallup Polls, Republican candidates are generally rated more positively by veterans than Democratic candidates. In fact, each of the leading Republicans is rated more positively by veterans than non-veterans, and each of the two leading Democrats is rated more positively by non-veterans than veterans. Think MSM reporters! Do veterans and/or troops support Ron Paul? Looking at the numbers for veterans the answer is yes - in about the same numbers as in the general population, between three and five percent. But the bottom line is this: it is fallacious of the Ron Paul campaign to take these numbers and pronounce “the troops support Ron Paul”. Preference for 2008 Republican Nomination, by Veteran Status (among Republicans and Republican leaners) Giuliani Veteran 28% Non-Veteran 34% Total 33% Thompson Veteran 25% Non-Veteran 19% Total 20% McCain Veteran 13% Non-Veteran 14% Total 14% Romney Veteran 12% Non-Veteran 10% Total 10% Hunter Veteran 3% Non-Veteran 1% Total 1% Huckabee Veteran 2% Non-Veteran 3% Total 3% Hagel Veteran 2% Non-Veteran 1% Total 1% Paul Veteran 1% Non-Veteran 3% Total 4% Tancredo Veteran 1% Non-Veteran 1% Total 1% Brownback Veteran

Be realistic, people..If Ron Paul looked like he was going to win, our government or the Israelis would have him killed. There is no democracy in this country..we are ruled by self-serving sociopaths. They might change the name and face, but the fascists are not goung to give up control, until we forcibly remove them. The electiona are a sham..the electoral college made sense in 1800, but not now. One man, one vote my ass....The trick for the powers that be is to make us think we have a say, when really, we do not.

"The Republican party is not a party of conservative ideology. It is a party of conservative clients. Wherever possible, the ideology will be invoked as justification for taking care of the clients needs. When the two are in conflict, the conservative principles are discarded and the clients are served." - From: Who Will Tell The People, by William Grieder 1992. READ THIS BOOK!

RP revolution February 7, 2008 7:04 am (Pacific time)

Ron Paul backers should march on the national republican convention dressed as Revolutionary Soldiers! Let's make a statement, and show up with at least 100k strong. We've got plenty of time to organize and create units from various states.

Guesswhotoo6 February 7, 2008 6:57 am (Pacific time)

Looks like we will need to do this the hard way, "my friends" That is collapse the dollar, remove the North and South borders, millions of foreclosures, war with Iran, Iraq, Afgan, N Korea, etc, Trillions more National debt, kill off entitlements of medicare, and SS. Inject everyone with a real ID chip, soup lines, goodbye 2nd amendment... and on and on. Then maybe some more folks will notice that there is a problem? What is so difficult about simply voting out the parasites we have now? Where is the risk? What are people afraid of? What Ron Paul is talking about is putting capital in YOUR pocket!

Linda Inveninato February 7, 2008 5:41 am (Pacific time)

The troops support Ron Paul. They know the truth...help them? Opensecrets.org Scroll down mid page for Military contributions to all candidates. http://www.capitaleye.org/inside.asp?ID=332

jim February 7, 2008 4:20 am (Pacific time)

Ron needs to tell the next reporter that asks him the third party question, Yes, if the republicans don't want the vote split, they will vote for him or he WILL take his support to a third party and give the democrats an "easy" win. that would scare the republican base pretty good.

AnAmerican February 7, 2008 1:51 am (Pacific time)

The sheeple are showing their true colors again. Tell every person you run across TO TURN OFF THAT DAMN T.V. I'm 20 years into fighting for Dr. Paul and America. I'll never quit!

Kathy M. February 6, 2008 8:10 pm (Pacific time)

It ain't over yet. I still back R.P. and donated more $ this morning. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if he went independent. I know many Dems who will vote for him if he makes it to the ballot.

Jesse February 6, 2008 7:11 pm (Pacific time)

Check FEC data for donation data. Ron Paul received more military donations than all GOP candidates combined. How did McCain get so many votes when the economy is supposedly the most important issue? Are these the same people who thought McCain was against the war? Television is spoon feeding voters into incredibly misinformed drolls. This election has been nothing more than a popularity contest so far. It's no wonder so many young voters are disenfranchised with the system. Oh, go Ron Paul by the way.

JB February 6, 2008 7:09 pm (Pacific time)

Too bad most Americans have become a bunch of Sheepeople, Ron Paul would be a great president but will never get the chance, BAAAAA

Fielding J. Hurst February 6, 2008 6:54 pm (Pacific time)

I feel sad about the results. I know Dr. Paul was not going to win, but I did expect more. On the other hand, I didn't engage in Lesser Evil voting and did vote for the best man. Fielding J. Hurst http://brushfires2008.com

feydakin February 6, 2008 3:12 pm (Pacific time)

A brokered convention is coming folks! And you know what that means. EVERYONE is going to have to listen to Dr. Paul. The problem that we are going to face is trying not to laugh when all the other candidate backers look like idiots. I am sorry but RP supporters are simply more intelligent and more informed than the rest. Thankfully, Dr Paul doesn't have a vengeful bone in his body (even though he can make the other candidates look silly at will). Remember when he asked McCain about "work groups"? Only problem is most americans had no idea either and were just as confused as mr 100 years in Iraq! Lets educate people folks. Ask people if they know how our economy really works, ask them if they know what inflation is and what causes it. Let them them know that not a single paper based currency has EVER succeeded in the history of the world. Ask people why were were attacked by terrorists in the first place? Give them a hint....cuz its not cuz they hate freedom!

Jefferson February 6, 2008 3:06 pm (Pacific time)

David what is your source that the troops support Paul? Thanks

steve February 6, 2008 1:37 pm (Pacific time)

rock on ron paul we need a great patrotic america to lead the country and save the republic from the impeading doom of the status quo.....rally for true freedom I will vote ron paul if I have to wright his name on the ballot

David February 6, 2008 1:12 pm (Pacific time)

He has the support of the troops, and their donations, and the support of their families as well. Veterans also support Ron Paul... that should tell you something.

DRUMS of WAR February 6, 2008 12:49 pm (Pacific time)

Voting for someone simply by virtue of their skin color or gender is NOT voting for change. Vote for principles. Principles prevail where people fail. Bush/Clinton: 25+ years is enough! Obama: Endorsed by Kennedy's = status quo. McCain: "Hates the gooks." Romney: In a cult.

Richard Wicks February 6, 2008 12:28 pm (Pacific time)

We live in a country now where the majority of Americans keep voting either a Fascist or a Communist into power. The next 4 years isn't going to be fun.

Marcelo February 6, 2008 11:28 am (Pacific time)

I am a Dr. Ron Paul supporter and enjoyed your article. Let's not forget though that there are three democrats still in the race.

Anonymous February 6, 2008 10:53 am (Pacific time)

Yea Cody But he has never flipped flopped on issues never voted to raise taxes bla bla bla im not gonna say everything but the point is his record is unflawed and the other republicans all have flaws

Al February 6, 2008 10:39 am (Pacific time)

The gloves should come off. Ron Paul needs to stand up for himself and stop being the nice guy. Call a spade a spade. You want war for 100 years vote McCain. You want more taxes and enrollment in Chinese language courses vote Hillary. Be radical Paul! Get in their faces and call these clowns/rivals on their sh*t. Call a spade a spade. The media has to take notice. McCain with his temper will react and you are in the news and then you can sell your message that is not getting out in the moment!

Kyle February 6, 2008 10:30 am (Pacific time)

I think this is what will happen. Ron Paul will at some time before or just prior to the national convention announce an independant candidacy. When the playing field is down to one democrat and one republican this will leave huge scores of voters torn about where to place their vote in November. This will Allow Ron Paul to grab up large numbers of disenchanted voters from both parties, libertarians, (which he's a shoe in), and independants. If his current follower base stays focused then those coupled with the other voters that I just previously mentioned then it'll turn into a massive 3 way dogfight for the whitehouse.

Flo February 6, 2008 10:24 am (Pacific time)

Why are Americans puposely voting for their countries bankrupcy or don't they understand the economics of what is currently happening?

Cody February 6, 2008 9:54 am (Pacific time)

"Of the 6, only Ron Paul stands for American ideals and has the record to prove it." Not sure I can agree. There are many American ideals, and every one of those republicans has at least one that they fought for...record and all.

Jefferson February 6, 2008 9:51 am (Pacific time)

Ron Paul's delegate count is statistically nil, he has some good idea's, but it takes more than idea's to mount a successful campaign. Maybe if he was African-American his delegate count would be up, for he certainly has more experience than either Hillary Clinton or Barak Hussein Obama. Maybe it's not too late and he can run with Nader. That would probably be the most patriotic act he could ever do...Go Nader/Paul or Paul/Nader.
