Police Investigating Double Fatal Traffic Crash East of Sandy

Police say the highway will be blocked for indefinite period.

(SANDY, Ore.) - Oregon State Police and several other agencies are on the scene of a two vehicle, double fatal head-on crash on Highway 26 about nine miles east of Sandy near Alder Creek. The Clackamas County Medical Examiner is also on scene.

Preliminary information indicates that a westbound passenger car with two occupants crossed the centerline on Highway 26 near milepost 34 between Cherryville Hill and Brightwood and collided head-on with an eastbound pickup with two occupants. Police say it happened this morning at approximately 10:55 AM,

The two occupants of the westbound car are deceased. The two occupants of the eastbound pickup were transported by ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Hospital with reported non-life threatening injuries.

Police say no further information will be released at this time. Name will be released when next of kin notifications have been completed.
