(SALEM) - A Salem man has been arrested in connection to an attack that involved a samurai sword that injured a Keizer man last year.

The attack occurred July 4th, at about 2:00 AM, when 26-year old Jason Maghan was involved in a fight at a bar in Salem and was returning to his residence in the 6600 block of Amy Lane NE in Keizer.

Upon arriving at his home, Maghan was attacked by about nine people, and he used a samurai sword to defend himself, Keizer police Sgt. John Troncoso said.

One of the men took the sword from Maghan and stabbed him several times, narrowly missing vital organs.

Maghan was taken to Salem Hospital for a dislocated shoulder and other injuries.

Troncoso says officers arrested 20-year old Ernesto S. Sandoval at about noon Wednesday at the DMV office on Portland Road.

Sandoval faces Attempted Murder, Second-Degree Assault, and Riot charges.

He is being held without bail at the Marion County Jail.

Anyone with further information on this case is urged to contact Det. R. Bamford at (503) 390-3713 ext. 3457.

Pedro, you heard the one about why Mexico didn't have a Summer Olympic Team this year?., because everybody who could run .,jump.,or swim was in the states!, and yeah, I'd have to admit this is much more creative than the run of the mill assaults that are grossly lacking in subtilty, so to speak.,I mean anybody can fire a twelve gauge but it takes a real man to use a Samarai sword!, both of them!, and both of them have a hell of a story for the grandkids too! Maybe they'll buy each other a Schweppes tonic and ice reminiscing in later life!

maybe he saw too many "Zorro" flicks as an impressionable youth?, and I'd get the same law firm of Scumsucking-Pig assoc., who represented the "Taser", and he'll be out in time for lunch! Hell, maybe a brew in the same tav? I actually have friends in jail for less than this and no one was injured or even threatend in these criminal acts. They are dangerous marijuana addicts! homeless w/ their backs to the wall.,and others who don't "fit in" with the mainstream. There is definately something wrong here.

This is why we need more wetbacks; They are more creative with crime and killing. If it was a white or a black they would have used a gun, That would be too final and boring. These brown people are much more exciting. We need more brown people!!!

JAFO February 14, 2007 9:40 pm (Pacific time)

They bailed that other scumbag out after tazering his kid!? He's on the street! No charges (if warranted) filed against mother yet!? I'm missing something here I'm sure, but it has undeniable racial overtones. Why no bail for this guy?
