Salem Robbery Suspect Arrested in Milwaukee, Oregon

(SALEM) - A suspect in two Salem robberies was arrested yesterday about noon in Milwaukee. 38-year old Steven Michael Stroud of Milwaukee, was charged in connection with two robberies that occurred in Salem on February 13th , according to Bill Kohlmeyer with Salem Police. Stroud is charged with crimes that happened in Salem early that morning. In one instance, he is charged with Robbery III, Theft II from a robbery that happened at Denny's Restaurant, 3680 Market Street N.E. at 4:30 AM on the 13th. He faces two counts of Robbery II from an alleged robbery at the Walgreens Drug Store, 1992 Lancaster Drive. This location was robbed at about at about 8:20 AM.

No weapon was displayed in either robbery but police investigators say that he told the victims at Walgreens he had a gun. Kohlmeyer says Stroud became a suspect when a citizen noticed a suspicious white Ford Escort near the Walgreens store and wrote the license number down. Salem Police Detectives, working with Clackamas County and Portland Police Bureau Detectives were able to develop the case and he was contacted on a traffic stop by Clackamas County. Salem Police Detectives then responded with Milwaukee Police and the other agencies and he was arrested and charged with the Salem crimes.
