NASCAR sends #88 National Guard Show Car to PortlandSalem-News.comThe car's driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr., is a third generation racer in a family forever connected to stock car racing.
(PORTLAND, Ore.) - The National Guard is sponsoring the #88 Amp/National Guard Chevrolet driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr. The #88 car will be on Display at Wentworth Chevrolet, 107 SE Grand Avenue in Portland, Ore. on Wednesday from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Everyone is encouraged to stop by and get an up-close look at the car driven by the most popular driver in NASCAR. Other opportunities to see the #88 car will be on Friday, February 22nd 2008 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Mt. Hood Community College and then later in the day at the Hooters Restaurant, 11875 N. Jantzen Drive in Portland. Dale Earnhardt Jr., is a third generation driver in a family forever connected to the sport of stock car racing. His flare for originality and common-sense charisma has help propel him to one of the most popular figures in sports. He has been selected five times as the winner of NASCAR's "Most Popular Driver Award", joining Richard Petty and Bill Elliott as the only drivers to win the award five consecutive seasons. He has also appeared on numerous occasions on the Harris Interactive annual poll of "America's Top Favorite Athletes. Here he joins other sports giants such as Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Brett Favre and Derek Jeter. The 2008 season marks his ninth year in the NACAR Sprint Cup Series competition. Through 2007, the 32 year old native of Kannapolis, NC has amassed more the $46 million in career winnings and 17 victories to include the 2004 Daytona 500.
