(CANBY, Ore.) - Police say a multi-agency investigation involving the Mid-Columbia Interagency Narcotics Task Force (MINT) and Canby Police Department led to the seizure of suspected methamphetamine-related chemicals and materials at a rural Wasco County home that would yield approximately $2.7 million of methamphetamine.

The eight-month investigation reportedly led detectives from MINT, Canby Police Department and Oregon State Police on February 4, 2009 to serve a search warrant at 365 NW 4th Street in Dufur.

The investigation is said to have involved individuals from the Canby area and eastern Oregon.

Detectives seized what they say is approximately 18 gallons of suspected P2P, a chemical used in the manufacture of methamphetamine, which could yield about 150 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated value of $2.7 million.

Confirmation of the chemicals is being done by the Oregon State Police Forensic Services Division.

Investigators say a suspect has been identified but no arrest made related to this ongoing investigation.

The case will be referred to the Wasco County District Attorney's Office and the United States Attorney's Office for consideration of charges.

P2P (Phenyl-2-propanone) is used in the methamphetamine cooking process. P2P style labs are very dangerous and considered rare because of the difficulty in obtaining the chemicals to complete the lab due to purchasing restrictions.

Specially trained OSP detectives were brought in to assist with executing the search warrant.
