UPDATE: Salem Man Shot Along Highway 22 East of Salem

The victim recalls seeing a dirty white or silver American-made style passenger car in the area shortly before the incident.

(STAYTON) - Oregon State Police detectives are continuing the investigation into a reported shooting that allegedly occurred along Highway 22 in the Stayton area early Friday morning.

At approximately 1:48 AM, a report was received from the victim advising he had been shot while stopped on the westbound shoulder of Highway 22 near milepost 13 east of the Santiam Golf Club.

The victim, a 27-year old male Salem resident, was transported to Santiam Memorial Hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening shoulder wound.

According to the victim, he was seated in his silver Ford F-150 pickup on the highway shoulder when he was shot in the shoulder area.

The victim recalls seeing a dirty white or silver American-made style passenger car in the area shortly before the incident, but investigators are not sure if this is related to this incident.

S-LM: Tried-true methodology used ever since 1776; basic concept described in Founders' writings, long used in Europe. Fundamental: IF it costs more, tougher to spend-for; if it "bad"-affect; make it harder to do; if can strip off some dollars, spend 'em on prevention and education. Consequences all "good" from "bad deal" for all-concerned. Even cult-pols can understand that !! --unless manipulated for power-trip.

this is a good idea Henry., about the only time I get around people who are alcoholicaly inclined it's at an AA meeting!, and all of us say it'd be insane to drink again., but for those who can do it sanely, taxing the item like tobacco seems a good idea for revenue and education public wise. I'd vote for it too!

From our "One-Way/DUI story above: "The only trooper on duty at the time was involved in the shooting investigation on Highway 22 in the Stayton area. "Alcohol is being investigated as a possible contributing factor." SO why not tax alcohol, too, as contribution to trooper build-back NOW ? Same principle as cig-tax: Hampers, slows irresponsible usage of addictive drug, while using proceeds to protect those already threatened.
