Soldiers Killed in Balad, Iraq

The soldiers were assigned to the 5th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

(BALAD, Iraq) - The Department of Defense announced today the death of three soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

They died February 23rd in Balad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked their unit using small arms fire.

They were assigned to the 5th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

Killed were:

Corporal Michael L. Mayne, 21, of Burlington Flats, New York.

Specialist Micheal B. Alleman, 31, of Logan, Utah.

Private first class Zachary R. Nordmeyer, 21, of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Sad..Sad and pointless. And the thing is, these guys probably would have been "insurgents" if America was invaded and they were just ordinary guys. We have got to learn to stop letting governments and military-industrial complexes and bought and paid for politicians talk us into fighting each other so they can make money. They are our real enemies.
