(YAMHILL, Ore.) - A 57-year old Yamhill man was injured early this morning when he was shot in the leg by his 23-year old son.

Captain Ken Summers with the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, says John Wallace Huwaldt of NW Westside Road received superficial wounds when his son, 23-year old Tyler Carson Huwaldt, who resdies at the same address, fired a 22 caliber rifle during a 12:30 a.m. altercation in their home.

Yamhill County Sheriff Jack Crabtree said his deputies were called to the home at 1:01 a.m. by Tyler Huwaldt, who told them that he had just shot his dad.

"The younger Mr. Huwaldt was taken into custody and charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Domestic Menacing", said Sheriff Crabtree.

He added, "We believe that alcohol played a role in the argument that led up to the incident."

Tyler Huwaldt was lodged in the Yamhill County Jail on $165,000 security.
