Salem Garbage Truck Driver Strikes Power Pole at Camp WithycombePower has apparently been cut off to Camp Withycombe and several businesses in the area. PGE officials are on the scene working to restore power at this time.
(Clackamas) - A Salem garbage truck driver is uninjured after his vehicle apparently clipped a power pole outside the entrance to Camp Withycombe in Clackamas at 10101 SE Clackamas Rd. Clackamas County deputies dispatched to the scene just before 10:00 AM this morning say they found the garbage truck, owned by the State of Oregon, had tipped on its side after pulling down the power pole. The driver of the truck, 60-year old Mike Kuhns of Salem, was not injured but they say he was trapped in the truck for a short time. Kuhns told deputies that he had just picked up garbage from the facility and was leaving when he snagged the power lines with the lift arm on the truck that had not come fully down into the closed position. ODOT and Clackamas County Transportation & Development officials are assisting with traffic control in the area. Power has apparently been cut off to Camp Withycombe and several businesses in the area. PGE officials are on the scene working to restore power at this time. A tow truck has arrived and is attempting to move the garbage truck. The incident is under investigation but no citations have been issued at this time. Related Clackamas |
