Train Crashes East of Baker City

No injuries were reported in connection with the derailment.

(BAKER CITY, Ore.) - Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers from the LaGrande Area Command were part of a multi agency response to a train derailment that resulted in the closure of I-84 between Baker City and Ontario Friday afternoon.

On December 31, 2010 at approximately 11:45 AM, numerous cars of a westbound train derailed in close proximity to I-84 near milepost 335. The location of the derailment is approximately 30 miles east of Baker City, Oregon.

No injuries were reported in connection with the derailment.

Both eastbound and westbound lanes of I-84 were closed to traffic while emergency crews confirmed that the train's cargo posed no danger to the public.

Both directions of travel were completely opened at 3:25 PM.

OSP assisted with traffic control and incident management.

Details regarding this incident will be released through the Baker County Emergency Management Office and the Baker County Sheriff's Office.
