(PORTLAND, Ore.) - A three-year old girl was stabbed in Portland Saturday and a woman is in custody, according to Sergeant Greg Stewart with the Portland Police Bureau.

He says Portland Police officers responded to a disturbance call today at approximately 5:15 p.m. in the 3300 block of SE 129th Avenue.

"Officers arrived and found that a three-year old female had suffered a stab wound," Stewart said. "Medical units responded and the child was transported to a local hospital."

He says police subsequently took custody of a female adult suspect in the stabbing, identified as 22-year old Serenity Sanchez.

She will be booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Assault in the First Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Ms. Sanchez has been been identified as the girlfriend of the victim's father.

Portland Police Detectives responded and the case is still under investigation.

There will be further updates as more information becomes available.
