Victim Identified in Fatal Wreck on Highway 213

20-year old Fregoso Navarro of Molalla, Oregon, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - Police say a 20-year old Molalla woman died Friday morning when she lost control of her car on Highway 213 about 1/4 mile south of South Kropf Road and was struck broadside by a van. The other driver received non-life threatening injuries.

Sergeant Dan Swift with Oregon State Police says that today at approximately 11:00 AM, a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt two-door driven by 20-year old Rocio Fregoso Navarro of Molalla, was southbound on Highway 213 near milepost 23 negotiating a right curve when it lost control.

"The car slid broadside into the northbound lane where it was struck in the passenger side by a 2004 GMC van driven by 48-year old Michael Baker of Dayton. "After impact, both vehicles came to a stop partially in the northbound lane and highway shoulder," Swift said.

Fregoso Navarro was pronounced deceased at the scene. She was using safety restraints.

Baker was transported by ambulance to Silverton Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was using safety restraints and the van's airbags deployed.

Oregon State Police troopers from the Portland Area Command office are continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash. Molalla Police Department, Molalla Fire Department and ODOT assisted at the scene. Highway 213 was closed about three hours.
