Albany Man Dies In Accident Near Halsey

fatal crash investigation

(Albany) - An Albany man was killed last weekend when his vehicle left the roadway and landed upside down in about three feet of water where he drowned, pinned inside his vehicle.

48-year old David Willard Thompson was last seen Friday night at a restaurant in Corvallis, and had been reported missing by his girlfriend to the Albany Police Department. Saturday afternoon, a passerby discovered Thompson`s Chevrolet pickup and reported it to the Sheriff`s Office.

David Thompson was discovered deceased inside of his pickup.

Linn County Sheriff's Deputies investigating the crash have determined that Mr. Thompson was traveling westbound on American Drive west of Halsey, when he failed to negotiate a corner and his pickup left the road came to rest on its top in a ditch filled with water.

Assum Funeral home in Albany is handling funeral arrangements
