Thousands Go Without Power During a Second Night of Windstorms
(Salem) - PGE estimated outages as of 11:00 PM Tuesday to be at about 13,000, caused by a second night of high winds. Additional crews have been called in to work overnight, and PGE's call center has been opened to take customer calls. The largest outages are in Welches where 1,800 customers were affected, Beavercreek with 1,700 customers affected, Sandy, where the lights went out for 1,600 customers, and Rhododendron, where 1,450 residents went without power. Crews have repaired a major outage in the Riverview/Terwilliger area that affected about 1,000 customers. While crews are having good success repairing outages, new outages continue to occur. Most every corner of PGE's service territory has been hit, with pockets of outages in Canby, West Linn, Oregon City, Silverton, Sheridan, Boring, Corbett, Hubbard, Molalla and Willamina. To report an outage, call PGE at 503-464-7777 (1-800-544-1795 outside of the Portland area). Stay safe. If customers see a downed line, contact PGE immediately. Don't go near the line. Even if the line looks insulated (like cables or phone lines), always assume that downed lines are live and extremely dangerous. Never touch downed lines with your body or any objects. Be sure to keep kids and pets away. Salem area weather forecast Salem-News Weather Related Links: Seven day weather forecast | Weather Stories | Road Conditions | Road Cameras Related Weather |
