California Man Arrested on Amtrak in Salem for 1,792 Oxycotin TabletsTim King Salem-News.comThe suspect had allegedly purchased the Oxycotin tablets for $10.00 per pill in Modesto California. The pill's can be sold at street level prices ranging from $22.00 to $60.00 each.
(SALEM ,Ore.) - Deputies in Marion County say they have concluded an investigation involving the transportation and delivery of 1,792, 80mg Oxycotin tablets. Sgt. Gerry Adcock with Marion County's Meth Strike Force, says 29-year old James T. Jones of Modesto California was arrested without incident on an Amtrak just prior to the train arriving in Salem Oregon. "James T. Jones was using Amtrak to transport the Oxycotin tablets from Modesto California to Seattle Washington. Jones was transported to the Marion County Correctional Facility on the charges of Deliver and Possession of Oxycotin, a Schedule II controlled substance," he said. Jones had allegedly purchased the Oxycotin tablets for $10.00 per pill in Modesto California. The pill's can be sold at street level prices ranging from $22.00 to $60.00 each. Agencies involved in this investigation include members of the Marion County Methamphetamine Strike Force, Marion County Street Crimes Unit and a Salem Police Department Drug Canine Unit. Dr. Phil Leveque of Salem-News.com, says this prescription medication, Oxycotin, has caused the deaths of many people and they are highly addictive. The doctor cites law enforcement's actions in pursuing an illegal substance that has a major negative impact on those who abuse it.
