Oregon State Police Add New Testing Dates for RecruitsSalem-News.comThe Oregon State Police have added entry level testing dates for interested applicants.
(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon State Police have announced two new upcoming Entry Level testing dates as part of the department's recruitment and applicant processing efforts for men and women interested in a career as an Oregon State Police Trooper. Lieutenant Eric Judah with the Oregon State Police Training Division says that on Saturday, March 1st, and Saturday, May 3rd, OSP will be holding Entry Level Testing at West Albany High School. These dates were added to an already established summer testing date to help recruit, test, and retain interested applicants in a more timely fashion. In order to participate, individuals must first submit an employment application to the Department – available on line at: oregon.gov/OSP. Judah says the first day of testing starts with a physical fitness test consisting of push-ups, sit-ups and a two-mile timed run. You can check the OSP Website for specifics and standards for passing. "Applicants who successfully complete the physical fitness tests, proceed to take a written test that afternoon to evaluate basic educational competencies. Applicants passing the written test are invited to return the following day for additional aptitude testing and to begin the background investigation process," he added. The Oregon State Police, like many other law enforcement agencies in Oregon and around the country, have many career opportunities to serve our communities in positions critical to the State's safety and economic vitality. In 2007, OSP hired 36 recruit troopers who were trained at the Department Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) academy. In addition to the 16-week DPSST training, OSP recruit troopers also receive eight weeks of Department-specific training.
More information about the Oregon State Police, career opportunities, and how to apply is available on our web site in the "Now Hiring" section at oregon.gov/OSP.
