No Injuries in Keizer House FireSalem-News.comNo damage estimate was immediately available and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
(KEIZER, Ore.) - Keizer firefighters responded to a house fire shortly before 6:00 PM Thursday at 1554 Manzanita Street NE. Fire Spokesman Jim Trett says the first fire unit was in route at 5:44 pm and arrived on the scene at 5:48 PM. "Firefighters reported seeing heavy smoke and an orange glow in the area while approaching from five blocks away," he stated. Trett says that upon arrival, crews observed flames coming from the garage of the single family residence. "Fire crews immediately initiated an interior attacked the fire. The fire was declared under control at 6:14 PM." The home is owned and occupied by Allen T. Prell his wife and two daughters. Mr. Prell and his daughters were home at the time of the fire and reported the fire to 9-1-1. Trett says no injuries were reported in the incident. The garage of the home was destroyed by the blaze and the rest of the structure suffered heavy smoke and heat damage. In addition, the fire extended into the attic area of the home and fire crews has to remove a portion of the ceiling of the structure to extinguish smoldering insulation. Three engines, two ambulances, one ladder, one duty vehicle, one utility vehicle and twenty four firefighters responded to the blaze. No damage estimate was immediately available and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
