Surveilance Video and Images of Suspect in Assault of Elderly Woman (VIDEO)Tim King Salem-News.comThe woman suffered severe injuries to her head, neck and upper torso after being attacked inside her cobalt-blue PT Cruiser.
(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - Investigators in Clackamas County have released suspect information in the assault and kidnapping of a 73-year old woman last week.
Detective Jim Strovink with the Clackamas Sheriff's Office, says he hopes somebody in the public recognizes the man and calls their agency with information about his identity and location. He explains that on Saturday around 2:55 p.m., the 73-year old elderly woman was assaulted, robbed and carjacked from the parking lot of Maddy's Deli at 10405 SE 82nd Ave, near King Road in Clackamas County. "The woman suffered severe injuries to her head, neck and upper torso. The victim was attacked inside her cobalt-blue PT Cruiser as she left Maddy's Deli, in Clackamas," Strovink said. The woman said that after initially kidnapping and assaulting her, he drove her car with her inside, away from from the scene of the initial crime and then held her against her will for about an hour and ten minutes. Strovink says that at approximately 4:10 p.m., the suspect left the victim and her vehicle on SW Broadway between Taylor and Yamhill in Portland. "With the generous help of the Southgate Liquor Store and Maddy's Deli, the suspect's image has been captured on video surveillance provided by both businesses," Strovink said. The subject is described as follows:
Strovink says that on the day of the carjacking, the suspect wore a black jacket and a black knit cap with a yellow emblem upon its front. Anyone with information about this crime -- including anyone who might have seen the cobalt-blue PT Cruiser between 3:00 p.m. and 4:10 p.m. on Saturday, January 24th 2009 -- is urged to call the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Tip Line at 503-723-4949.
