La-La Land Revisited

Isn’t it time we all wake-up to the BIG lie. It isn’t about American honor, it isn’t about keeping our country strong?

(HARRISVILLE, N.H.) - I am 64 years old and up until 5 years ago, I never bought or owned a car that was not American made. Then, not quite 5 years ago, I changed. Here is why: I listened to the story from American manufacturers to “buy American and keep our country strong”.

I listened to the rhetoric about how many jobs are made and kept by the American Automobile industry. I believed it all... 100%. Then one day after buying a new Jeep Sahara, I was dressing a friend down for buying a foreign truck. He turned to me and asked, "So, you like to buy American huh?"

I replied, "Certainly I do... just think of how many American jobs are created by the Automobile industry". His reply was classic and caused me to change my thinking 180 degrees. He said, "come with me”, and walked over to my Jeep (then a Chrysler Product).

He opened the hood and said: "Read me anything off of any part in that engine". I could not! It was all written in Japanese characters. The light went on for me right then. The car companies that had been telling me to buy American even though buying American was more expensive... the same companies I had so loyally supported my whole life, were buying foreign because it was cheaper.

Well, I kept that 1994 Jeep for 13 years and it served me well but when I bought my next vehicle, 5 years ago, it was of foreign manufacture as will every car I buy for the rest of my life. It is bad enough when the deadbeat politicians we subsidize lie to us but being lied to buy American companies was the straw that broke the camel’s back for me.

These same companies who were so seemingly concerned about American jobs were structuring the downfall of American employment themselves... all to fatten the same banks and Wall Street moguls our Congress gave hundreds of billions of our tax dollars to. The American eagle that symbolizes the American people has been asleep for too long. It is long past time to show and use its talons people.

It is not about Democrat or Republican because they will both happily steal the pennies off a dead man’s eyes. By buying foreign, you are not hurting the American worker. It is our politicians who gladly subsidize sending American jobs overseas and American companies who are only too happy to take advantage of those subsidies, and American unions who are never satisfied, who have killed American jobs.

It is the greed to maximize profits beyond comprehension that has killed American employment and for that matter, international stability. Give them all 5-fingers off the nose... vote Tea Party, Coffee party, or for that matter Tupperware party just not Democrat or Republican party, buy everything you possibly can foreign so we send them all down the toilet they so gladly shove our faces in while at the same time helping people just like you all over the world.

Here is where the bear really squatted in the woods: It has never really been about keeping the country strong folks. Every man or woman who has worked until they were bone tired deserves an honest day’s pay for an honest day’s work. Every one of them wants to see their babies grow up strong, happy, and healthy. Every one of them wants to see their families go to bed well fed. The color of their skin doesn’t matter, the deity they worship doesn’t matter, and their native land doesn’t matter. What matters is this: we are all brothers and sisters who want to be treated fairly.

Is there a Father or Mother out there who would not extend a helping hand to another Father or Mother whose babies were crying because they were hungry? When the greedy and selfish individuals of this world remove the humanity from human beings in the name of patriotism, it is time to use that same patriotism against the greediest of the greedy. It is time to say no to corruption, no to greed, and no to selfishness.

Stranger than fiction Order Now

While we fight wars not because we were brutally attacked but because the greediest of the greedy want the rights to more oil, the rich get richer and the poor get killed. Isn’t it time we all wake-up to the BIG lie. It isn’t about American honor, it isn’t about keeping our country strong, and it damned sure isn’t about buying American because American is quality. It is about helping the rich get richer, the powerful become more powerful, and the politicians become even more slimy than they already are.

We need to say that if the workers of another country can do a good job and make a good product, they deserve a fair share of the market, a fair price for their goods, and a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work.

When politicians and Unions get in bed together, the offspring of that union is likely to be the anti-Christ feared by so many. The people of all countries have the power to clean the Augean stables every bit as good as Hercules did. We can tear a hole in the stable wall with our votes and channel the torrent of honesty throughout the world to clean the stables. We can do this not by one-upping the other countries but by working together toward a common goal.

We can stop killing each other in the name of God or country and rather take each other's part against the Hydra that international banking has become. Does anyone still believe that the politicians, the Federal Reserve, and International banking care about the people of the world? Does anyone still believe that our politicians are really in control? If so, please send me some of whatever it is you are smoking because it is nice to visit La-La land and that is not just my opinion because I used to live there!

Writer Robert Collinsworth is an American who isn't hesitant to talk about the good side of his country, and that is a welcome thing in this day and age. admittedly, is very critical of both American politics, as well as those of other nations that we perceive is being wrong in their motives and actions. At the same time, within these structures we criticize, are many outstanding people who make each day a better place for all those around them. They embody and personify the American spirit that is sometimes fleeting, but always present. These are some of the things Robert takes into account when writing commentary that is designed reach people, to "get them thinking" in his words, and indeed it does.'s goal is for all people to be on the same page, we appreciate Bob's more conservative approach toward that same goal."
