(KEIZER, Ore. ) - Keizer Fire District crews responded to two fires that were caused by fireworks late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.

The first fire was reported at 10:55 PM on July 4th at 4175 River Road North.

Firefighters found a bush burning at the Sherwood Arms Apartments.

The fire was confined to the vegetation and caused no damage to structures.

The cause was determined to be fireworks.

The next incident was reported at 4791 Brandon Ct. NE at 4:36 AM on July 5th.

Firefighters arrived to find that a fire had damaged the outside corner of the garage at that address.

They reported that a Keizer Police Officer had extinguished the flames with a garden hose prior to their arrival.

Fire crews removed the cornice on the corner of building and made sure the fire was completely extinguished.

Cause of the fire was determined to be used fireworks placed in a plastic bucket re-igniting and then igniting the plastic bucket on fire with flames spreading to the exterior of the tri-plex.

Damage to the residence was estimated at $1,000.

No injuries were reported in the incidents.

Fire officials reminded residents that they should always have a water hose ready to go when using fireworks and to discard used fireworks in a metal bucket with water in it to thoroughly wet the remnants to prevent their re-ignition.
