(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - A spokesman for the Clackamas County Sheriff, says deputies were arresting a large number of suspects at 8:30 PM at Carver Park.

Jim Strovink says members of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office are contending with the detention of at least 13 subjects, between the ages of 18 – 25 years of age, "involved with riotous activity at Carver Park, along the Clackamas River."

"Investigators on the scene report several additional incidents occurred earlier on the River, involving assaults and alcohol related disturbances."

At least one female was reported as being assaulted, but Strovink says the woman did not stay around to file charges.

The problems started at approximately 8:00 PM Strovink says, "A large disturbance erupted inside and around the restroom facility inside the Carver Park. Sheriff's uniform patrol were able to quash the violent and disruptive crowd involving an estimated 13 or more youths between the ages of 18 – 25 years of age."

A Clackamas County Sheriff's Office transport van has been summoned to the scene to transport those suspected of being directly involved with this assaulting behavior and resulting disturbance.

Supervising Sgt. Ed Mura, who is on the scene, reports the disturbance is now under control with Sheriff's Office patrol personnel detaining all suspects.

"These suspects are being interviewed and awaiting potential transport to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Jail, to be lodged with the anticipated charge of Riot."

"Once again" he said. "These assaults and disorderly incidents are reported to involve alcohol and intoxicated individuals who have been recreating on this section of the Clackamas River."

The Carver Park crowd has dispersed and the situation is now under the control of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office patrol and Marine personnel attending to the disturbance, Strovink added.

So when will the parks people wise up and ban alcohol from being in the parks? The parks are already full of morons and then having drunken morons just makes it worse. Many parks and recreation areas do not allow any form of alcohol and they do not experience these issues. Make the possession in the park a serious offense and maybe the civilized humans of earth can go to the park and have a nice time. As for S. LaMarche's comment - - not too much I can add to the truth he stated.

if they were consuming the herb instead of instead of the alcohol it would have been altogether peaceful. But that's against the law isn't it? Very logical.
