Doomsday: How BP Gulf Disaster May Have Triggered a 'World-Killing' EventTerrence Aym for Salem-News.comMost experts in the know, however, agree that if the world-changing event does occur it will happen suddenly and within the next 6 months.
(CHICAGO) - Ominous reports are leaking past the BP Gulf salvage operation news blackout that the disaster unfolding in the Gulf of Mexico may be about to reach biblical proportions. 251 million years ago a mammoth undersea methane bubble caused massive explosions, poisoned the atmosphere and destroyed more than 96 percent of all life on Earth. [1] Experts agree that what is known as the Permian extinction event was the greatest mass extinction event in the history of the world. [2] 55 million years later another methane bubble ruptured causing more mass extinctions during the Late Paleocene Thermal Maximum (LPTM). Ground zero: The Gulf Coast The people and property located on the greater expanse of the Gulf Coast are sitting at Ground Zero. They will be the first exposed to poisonous, cancer causing chemical gases. They will be the ones that initially experience the full fury of a methane bubble exploding from the ruptured seabed. Cracks and bulges Methane is now streaming through the porous, rocky seabed at an accelerated rate and gushing from the borehole of the first relief well. The EPA is on record that Rig #1 is releasing methane, benzene, hydrogen sulfide and other toxic gases. Workers there now wear advanced protection including state-of-the-art, military-issued gas masks. Mass death on the water If the methane bubble—a bubble that could be as big as 20 miles wide—erupts with titanic force from the seabed into the Gulf, every ship, drilling rig and structure within the region of the bubble will immediately sink. All the workers, engineers, Coast Guard personnel and marine biologists participating in the salvage operation will die instantly. A chemical cocktail of poisons Some environmentalist experts are calling what’s pouring into the land, sea and air from the seabed breach ’a chemical cocktail of poisons.’ Doomsday While some say it can’t happen because the bulk of the methane is frozen into crystalline form, others point out that the underground methane sea is gradually melting from the nearby surging oil that’s estimated to be as hot as 500 degrees Fahrenheit.

Doomed Human July 14, 2010 9:34 pm (Pacific time) I thought the Mayans and Nostradamus said we had until Dec.21st-2012?? Boy...this is really going to throw a monkeywrench into my plans!! chuck July 14, 2010 4:43 pm (Pacific time) Hmmm...scientifically possible. inevitably, there is tremendous subterranean pressure, both gaseous and heat-intensified liquid. certain areas of the earth's crust are thinner, including around Yellowstone (Old Faithful is no happenstance), and at the bottom of the Gulf, possibly due to stretching out the tectonic plate when separating from AfroEuropa. Is it possible a thin (in geological metrics) pipe such as an oil tap could precipitate a much larger release? well, yes, similar to poking a baloon with a straw, the tear can rip wider, if sufficient underlying pressure is extant. Release of gaseous subterranean discharge is considered one of the nine most likely civilzation-terminous events (the # 1, although it will take some decades, but is unerringly predictable, being increasing levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration). This possibility cannot be ruled out. Caluclation of its likelihood is superfluous, however, as that statistic would soon become moot, perhaps written down for a later civilization to know we understood our own impending demise, shortly before its occurrence. I agree, this will occur, if it is to transpire, in 6 months, but the spread rate will be such that human life, in some remote regions, could potentially survive for an additional 6 months. So, live this life, whether 6 months or 50 years remain, do what you should, don't believe in made-up nonsense about salvation, or illusory dogmas, just be comfortable with what meaning you created while here. If it is methane gas emmissions or CO2 concentrations that ultimately spell the cessation of this human life, leave whatever you can to help the next civilization along. And do some kind things for the person next to you. Thanks for the link.. gp July 11, 2010 6:17 pm (Pacific time) This ought to take care of my worries about ever again having to sit through another election season, of course it rules out my hobbies of bird watching, gardening and any hopes I may have had of seeing my grandchildren grow up or learning to control my temper. The up side is that it will end the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians and the endless wars being perpetrated by the USA and Wallstreet. Too bad capitalism has to take the whole planet down with it. Next time around lets remember to share and ride our bikes. So long folks. It was such a pretty planet.
