114-year-old Salem Weather Record Falls

(SALEM) - The light rain shower that swept through the Salem-area Wednesday morning broke a long standing weather record for Salem.

The 114-year-old record fell when the National Weather Service office at Salem’s McNary Field recorded .01 inches of rainfall between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM.

According to the National Weather Service, Salem has never received measurable rainfall on this date, July 12th, since 1892.

Wednesday: Showers likely. Highs 70 to 75. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers. Lows around 55 light wind..

Thursday: Mostly cloudy in the morning...then partly sunny. Highs around 75. West wind 10 mph.
