Salem Pizza Delivery Driver Assaulted, RobbedKevin Hays Salem-News.comThe suspect is described as white male, with reddish hair. He was last seen wearing a white sweatshirt, and a baseball cap. He also had a small cross tattooed on one of his forearms.
(SALEM) - Salem police are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect and a vehicle after the man broke into a Salem apartment and ordered a pizza, then assaulted and robbed the pizza delivery driver. The assault and robbery that left the delivery driver shaken and slightly injured took place Wednesday morning at the Crestbrook Apartments on Lancaster Drive. The suspect broke into an apartment, called Figaro’s Pizza, and ordered a pizza. When the pizza delivery driver, 18-year-old Eric Diep, knocked on the door, the suspect opened the door, reportedly asked him to come inside and help him clean-up some spilled wine, then threatened him with a butcher knife and struck him over the head with a bottle. Diep was not seriously injured in the attack. The suspect fled the scene in silver Chevrolet Cavalier with Oregon license plate 953 BHY. If you see this vehicle, or have any information on this case, you are urged to contact Salem police. Salem-are law enforcement officers have good reason for being concerned; in the 1980's a Salem pizza delivery driver, Sherry Eyerly, disappeared after being led to a remote location to deliver a pizza. The case has never been solved, but at the time it brought an increased awareness to this type of crime and the dangers associated with it.
