Portland Police Investigate Suspected Gang Shooting

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Portland Police are investigating a shooting that happened tonight at approximately 8:00 p.m. Detective Mary Wheat with Portland Police, says an officer was driving in the area of the 8200 Block of Southeast Division and heard gunshots.

"A citizen then flagged down the officer and told him that someone had just been shot and provided the officer with information concerning the vehicle involved in the shooting."

Wheat says officers located an adult male victim in the area of the 8400 Block of Southeast Division and immediately called for medical personnel.

"Officers began searching the area for the suspect vehicle and located the described black BMW near the area of I-205 and 92nd Avenue."

She says Portland Police have detained two adult males that were riding in the vehicle.

"The Gang Enforcement Team has been called to the scene to investigate this incident due to possible gang involvement."

The victim was transported to an area hospital and is being treated for a gunshot wound.
