(SALEM, Ore. ) - Contractors working for the Oregon Department of Transportation will close the right lane of I-5 southbound between the N. Santiam Highway (Oregon 22) exit 253 and Kuebler Boulevard exit 252 at 9:00 PM Thursday.

The I-5 southbound off-ramp to Kuebler Boulevard will also be closed to traffic. Workers will re-open the lane and off-ramp by 6:00 AM Friday.

Drivers should expect delays of up to 20 minutes on southbound I-5 from 9:00 PM to midnight Thursday.

Plan to use alternate local routes.

The closure will allow work crews to re-stripe the off-ramp and move traffic barriers to a new alignment.

Drivers should visit www.TripCheck.com or call 511 for the most current traffic advisories.

The work is part of a $52 million contract with Hamilton Construction Company, of Springfield, to replace seven bridges, repair one bridge and widen I‑5 to six lanes through south Salem.

The project is funded by the Oregon Transportation Investment Act.
