(PORTLAND, OR) - U.S. President Barack Obama arrived at air guard base at 11:35 a.m. and emerged quickly thereafter. He was greeted by Brig Gen. Bruce Prunk, assistant adjutant general – air, of Oregon National Guard; Brig. Gen. Todd Plimpton, assist. Adjutant general – army of Oregon Nat’l Guard and Col. Michael Stencel, commander of 142nd Fighter Wing of Oregon Air National Guard. He then met his brotrher-in-law, Craig Robinson, basketball coach at OSU. They exchanged one-armed man hugs and president then went to greet crowd gathered at edge of tarmac.

We left the freeway just as 205 merged with 84 and made our way to The Gateway Breakfast House at NE 114th Ave. and NE Halsey Blvd., where the president greeted diners, with much bantering about whether he was going to be here to eat and how everyone was doing. He greeted one patron, Marvin Self, and said, “Here’s another Marvin,” and pointed to his personal aide, Marvin Nicholson. “He’s not starvin’, believe me,” said Obama of his aide after Marvin jokingly called himself “starvin’ Marvin” after a South Park bit. “You should see him eat,” the president added of his aide.

The President then sat at a table with three veterans, Dean Dilley of Portland, Mark Peterson of Portland and Thomas Foeller of Oak Grove. They appeared to talk about health care issues and expenses and at one point the president said emphatically with a smile, “That one we can do right away. You heard it from the commander in chief.”

Pool ushered out at that point. President has now been inside for 30 minutes.

lol anon 6:12 ..I am anon at 3:09...I wanted to stick up for anon 5:07...you see my posts and know that I care, but anon at 5:07 has a point. Its not bigotry as the editor mentioned, it really is a problem. This country has put much into the welfare state, and now this country is broke. Hospitals closing down etc. I wont get into particulars, and dont want to argue, but I disagree with editor saying it is bigotry. Calling names, when a person is simply telling the truth is not a good thing editor..With all due respect of course. The problem with anon at 5:07 is that he doesnt see the entire picture..This was all planned by the bankers, (written in their own words), is to turn us against each other so we dont see their evil. They have been doing this for centuries. To anon 5:07, dont blame the illegals etc, learn and blame the bankers or nothing will change. Dont fall into their trap. Your words were true, but lets go after the root of the problem. The root of the problem is not the illegals, or welfare recipients, it is the bankers who control everything. Please take time to learn, we are in the last hours.

This might also be a bit off topic, but how about those Yankees?!

I'm sure the illegals were there. And off course the unemployed and the welfare people. The ones who are lucky enough to have a job were at work, making sure that there hard worked money was being spend to support illegals.

Editor: Your bigotry is a sad stain on our pages.

THis is my third post here, thanks for putting up with me, but I have another issue that is really bothering me. obama/soretero/whatever will go and pretend to greive the victims in Colorado, but what about his drones that are killing hundreds of innocent civilians? Oh, I see, they have a different color skin and live in another country, so its ok. I tell you RIGHT NOW, once we reduce any person/population to a level where killing them is ok, ALL humanity is over. You simply dont kill an entire family of dozens of people because there might be a bad guy in there somewhere. Its just not right. Think of how you would feel, being at a wedding and watching your entire family being destroyed and killed by some guy in a climate controlled room in the mid-west setting off the bombs from drones as if he/she were playing a video game...You BEST think about this, because the senate just approved 30,000 drones over the U.S. They dont care about humanity, and they dont care about Americans, they care about power and control and will do anything to continue to keep it. And yes, it can happen in America, its already happening. How many people have the police killed making mistakes, thinking they are immuned from getting in trouble? THey get paid vacations for it. Wait til the drones come, it will escalate 100 fold. The crud people told me about "well, if you are not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about" is null and void now, so dont even go there.

My apologies if this a bit off topic, but what is up with Ron Wyden? I dont trust politicians, but he is talking about Fukishima, the federal government spying on us etc. I am kinda liking the guy, but still a bit leery. By the way, I dont even know if Wyden is democrat or republican, I dont care, I look at actions not the party. A bit off topic, sorry but its a burning question I have. Wyden seems to be doing what other politicians should be doing, I hope he is for real...thanks :-)

I completely stayed away from the "birther" issue. Just not enough facts, lotsa rhetoric, etc. But now I have something to say about it. Obama's father is Frank Marshal Davis and the birth certificates/social security number, in fact his entire book is a lie. The evidence is now overwhelming and I cant deny it anymore. But wait!!! romney will save us!! I would say lol but its not funny, romney is owned by the same people or he would not even be a candidate. Ron Paul is not owned, thus, no media coverage when he brings in 10,000 people at UCLA, while romney cant get two people. It is so obvious its beyond imagination that people dont see it. Or, they are too busy watching mainstream news and video games..Probably the latter. Hmmm, the choices they give us is obushma, or oromney...some choice. They are all the same.

MILITARY VETERANS PICK ROMNEY OVER OBAMA, 59-35// Sunday, July 22, 2012// Most military veterans don’t like the job President Obama is doing and prefer Mitt Romney in November’s election. New Rasmussen Reports polling finds that 59% of Likely U.S. Voters who have served in the military favor the Republican challenger, while 35% support the president. Five percent (5%) of these voters like some other candidate in the race, but only two percent (2%) are undecided. http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2012/election_2012_presidential_election/july_2012/among_military_veterans_romney_59_obama_35
