(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - A Lebanon-area man was killed and three others injured Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 99W and Old Fort Road south of Monmouth.

Oregon State Police troopers say on July 24, 2009 at approximately 11:00 a.m. a 2002 Chevrolet Impala four-door driven by 68-year old Robert Henry Primasing of Lebanon, was westbound on Old Fort Road approaching the intersection with Highway 99W.

Witnesses told troopers the Chevrolet failed to stop at a stop sign and crossed through the intersection when it was struck in the driver's side by a northbound Volkswagen Bug. Both vehicles came to rest along the west side of the highway.

Robert Primasing was pronounced deceased at the scene. His wife and passenger, 66-year old Shirley N. Primasing, was seriously injured and transported by ambulance to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Corvallis.

Her injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. Both were using safety restraints.

The Volkswagen's driver, 18-year old Megan Eichler of Willamina, and passenger, 18-year old Hannah Zimbrick of Willamina, were transported by ambulance to Salem Hospital with minor injuries.

Both were treated and released. They were using safety restraints.

OSP troopers from the Salem and McMinnville offices are continuing the investigation.

ODOT assisted with traffic control. The southbound lane was closed about four hours during the investigation. The highway was not completely blocked as first reported earlier today. Polk County Sheriff's Office and Polk County Fire District also assisted at the scene.
