Remains of Human Hand Found Near Elgin, Oregon

The Union County Major Crimes Team is investigating to try and determine the manner and cause of death.

(ELGIN, Ore.) - Officials say a human hand was discovered Saturday on Boise Cascade property near Elgin, Oregon.

The Union County Medical Examiner has confirmed that the recovered body part was a human hand, but there might not be enough to establish an identity.

The hand will be sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Clackamas, Oregon for verification and possible identification. The Union County Major Crimes Team is investigating to try and determine the manner and cause of death.

The Union County Major Crime Team consists of Union County Sheriff's Office, LaGrande Police Department, Elgin Police Department, Oregon State Police, and the Union County District Attorney's Office.
