(KELSO, Wash.) - An ultralight crashed yesterday in Kelso at about 9:00 a.m. according to officials there.

Charlie Rosenzweig, Chief Criminal Deputy with the Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office, says the plane lost power while flying above the Cowlitz River about 1 mile north of Kelso, Washigton.

"The pilot was able to guide the plane to the edge of the river near a sandbar but the plane flipped as it landed at the river's edge."

Rosenweig says the water was only about 5 inches deep at the site where the pilot walked away from flipped plane without injuries..

There were no passengers, Rosenweig said, and the plane was not damaged. The pilot, 42-year old Eric A O'Neill of Kelso, was the owner of the plane.

The plane did not appear to suffer any damage during the landing, Rosenweig said.
