Keizer Police Investigate Early Morning ShootingTim King Salem-News.com
(KEIZER) - A report of gunshots fired into an apartment and into a vehicle sent Keizer Police officers scrambling to 315 Hollyhock Place North at 4:51 AM Sunday. They say shots struck a car that was parked on the street in front of the apartment building. The apartment sustained damage to a window and siding, while the parked vehicle sustained damage to a window. Police say the parked vehicle did not belong to people who live inside the apartment. Nobody was hurt. Keizer Police Officer James Young says that within minutes of the call, he located a suspicious vehicle, a black 2004 Acura 4-door, traveling southbound on River Road not far from the location of the shooting. Three adult males occupied the vehicle. Young stopped the car Commercial Street NE and Shipping Street in North Salem. Young says that after talking to the people in the car, he learned that they are known acquaintances of the 19-year old woamn who was staying at her mother`s apartment, where the shooting took place. Officers then learned that at least one of the occupants of the vehicle had reportedly made threats to the victim a short time before the shooting occurred. All three were taken to the Keizer Police Department for further questioning. Investigators arrested 23-year old Ricardo Lee Dominguez of Salem for one count of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, which is a felony. Investigators believe Dominguez fired a handgun at the apartment and the parked vehicle. Ricardo Dominguez was a passenger in the vehicle officers had stopped earlier. Additionally, officers arrested 24-year old Lorenzo Murphy of Portland for a probation violation. They say he too was an occupant of the vehicle officers had stopped earlier. The driver of the vehicle, 26-year old Rolando Crenshaw of Salem, was not arrested or charged with any crimes. Police say the shooting does not appear to be gang related. Ricardo Dominguez and Lorenzo Murphy were transported to the Marion County Correctional Facility where they were booked into custody. This incident remains under investigation at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Tim Lathrop at 503-390-3713 Ext. 3481.
