(TANGENT) - Linn County deputies arrested a 24-year-old Gresham man after a high-speed chase Monday.

They later found that the man is wanted on a homicide charge in California.

Sheriff Tim Mueller says 24-year-old Alejandro Guzman was found hiding in some woods after he abandoned his car.

A Linn County deputy tried to stop Guzman`s car in the town of Tangent south of Albany when the chase started. The Corvallis police department also joined in the chase Mueller said.

Guzman let a woman and a 4-year-old child out of the car before coming to a dead end on a county road.

Deputies found out later that Guzman had several warrants against him in California.

The car Guzman was driving had been reported stolen last week in Hayward, California.
