Serial Armed Robbery Suspect ArrestedSalem-News.comDouglas York has a history of assaults, illegal narcotics and a previous robbery arrest.
(GRESHAM, Ore. ) - Since 03/24/07 The Gresham Police Department has been working a series of armed robberies with a lone white male described as the primary suspect and either displaying or implying a weapon. Gresham Detectives, working in conjunction with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office and the Portland Police Bureau, were able to identify a suspect in these robberies following tips sent to CCSO and the Portland Police Bureau. These tips came in after a local news station broadcast video from a robbery at Maddy's Deli in Clackamas County. The suspect was identified as: 35-year-old Douglas Richard York, a transient from Fairview, Portland, & Sandy, Oregon, York has a history of assaults, illegal narcotics and a previous robbery arrest. On Wednesday, Gresham Detectives responded to a call from the Troutdale Police Department after they arrested York in a stolen vehicle. Gresham Detectives interviewed Mr. York and subsequently charged him with: 1 Count Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle 3 Counts Robbery I 1 Count Robbery II Charges are expected on the 3 additional Gresham robberies following a Grand Jury Indictment and the FBI has confirmed that York is a suspect in the Gresham Well's Fargo Bank on 6/8/07. The Gresham Police Department would like to thank the Troutdale Police Department, The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, the Portland Police Bureau and local news stations for their assistance with the apprehension of this potentially dangerous suspect.
