(SALEM) - The Oregon Investment Fund built on its funding momentum this week by announcing three recent commitments to venture capital and private equity firms from the West. The trio of recent investments pushes the $105 million fund halfway to full investment.

The three funds receiving investment from the OIF are:

  • Wedbush Capital Partners, a lower middle-market private equity firm based in Los Angeles and with four offices in Oregon
  • Burrill Life Sciences Fund III, an early stage life sciences venture capital firm based in San Francisco
  • Voyager Capital Fund III, a technology venture firm based in Seattle
The firms that are based outside Oregon have agreed to set up an office in the state and spend a significant amount of time looking at investments in Oregon. The OIF is a fund of funds that is managed by Credit Suisse for the Oregon Public Employees Retirement Fund and overseen by the Oregon Investment Council.

`We have seen Credit Suisse move quickly and deliberately in building a diversified portfolio of funds that will benefit Oregon`s entrepreneurial and business landscape," said State Treasurer Randall Edwards. `We expect to announce a couple of more deals in the near future to further our commitment to promising young companies in the state of Oregon."

The Oregon Investment Fund was established in February 2004, with a goal of identifying new investment opportunities in the region for the Oregon Public Employees Retirement Fund, which contributed $100 million to create the fund.
