Weyerhaeuser Grant to Help Fund Scio High School Scoreboard

Good news for Scio

(SCIO) - The Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation recently presented the Scio School District with a $1,000 grant to help fund an electronic scoreboard for the baseball field at Scio High School.

The scoreboard is the first for the high school and is dedicated in memory of Scio resident, Wendy Lanz. Lanz was killed in March 2005, in a dirt bike accident. Her three sons attend Scio schools and participate in local sports programs.

`This gift comes from all of the local Weyerhaeuser employees and families," said Don Anderson, production supervisor of the Stayton iLevel Trus Joist plant. `We`re investing in our youth and are pleased to help fund this addition to the Scio community."

Weyerhaeuser employs about 240 employees at the Stayton facility.

The facility manufactures an engineered lumber product called TJI® joists.

An I-joist is a structural beam, typically used to support floors and roofs, whose cross section resembles the capital letter `I."
