Give Charlie Sheen a Break

He's one of if not the best male actor on television, and with the way sports personalities are paid such ridiculous salaries, why not let Hollywood's royalty have some room?

Charlie Sheen

(LOS ANGELES) - Nobody is going to convince me that NBC didn't light Charlie Sheen poorly this week during his interview with Jeff Rossen; and one of the network shows this week put on the chump hat by using an ultra wide fisheye type filter to make Sheen appear distorted.

Downward camera angles; super wide shots to make Charlie Sheen look small with their (had to be) intentionally non-flattering lighting; baited questions for his girlfriends about whether or not they represent a "mother" figure to his twins; what a total set up that was. So what if actors work in porn for a part of their lives; it is a free country and other than a few drug tales of yesterday, what Sheen and his friends are doing is legal and their business.

I think the networks are taking advantage of his good nature; giving Charlie Sheen a hand job but not the kind he's used to.

Having over twenty years under my belt shooting news interviews, I can tell you that there are many tricks of the trade; even very subtle things, that alter the viewer's perception of the person in question.

To let a celebrity take himself out by saying the wrong thing during an interview is one thing, but they didn't wait for that, I feel like the crews intentionally tried to visually portray Charlie Sheen in a negative way when they didn't have to.

Sure, I appreciate his 'bitcheness' and I don't dispute that he has made mistakes, who cares?

What I find interesting is that the people working on these national programs are not used to such brutal honesty.

This is the era of Tiger Woods and lying cheating celebrities.

Sheen doesn't elaborate on his mistakes but he tells it like it is about the present and he is damned funny and entertaining and in the game at all times as I see it.

I hope he tosses some weight behind the growing era of brutal truth that we are living in.

So what if the so-called national reporters want to misrepresent him, I have a feeling Charlie Sheen will keep going and stay away from white drugs. Cocaine and crack cocaine are a killer and he has too much potential to let that consume him.

After all, there's always marijuana and Red Bull.

Flabbergasted March 11, 2011 4:00 pm (Pacific time)

I'm so tired of the paparazzi headlines denigrating celebrities going through troubled times like Charlie Sheen. They don't even properly check their sources and they write whatever the hell they want. Meredith Baxter just wrote a book alledging her ex-husband of physical abuse and the next thing you know, the headlines are accusing David Birney of hitting her, acting as if this was fact rather than allegations. Than all the nut jobs come out from under their rocks to cast stones at this poor man who was just unwise enough to have married this emotionally unstable woman. His reputation is shredded and they are doing the same thing to Charlie. Anyone who stands up for people like Charlie Sheen and David Birney are labelled pariahs. Whatever happened to responsible journalism? Tim, keep up the good work.

Sheen-Tragic but funny March 7, 2011 8:54 pm (Pacific time)

I agree with you that maybe Charlie Sheen should be given a break. His rants are a bit over the top but I think he is fed up with all the paparazzi who are just out to get a piece of him. His ranting would almost be tragic if it weren't so funny. He's fed up, it's as simple as that. I just hope that he doesn't lose his kids and reputation in the process. The paparazzi are sickening and I am so tired of how they are always going after the celebrities without any respect to their privacy. Any wonder some of these victims have melt downs.

Part Two: With world criticism raging against Israel’s entrenched brutality to the people of Gaza, Foxman and other Jewish leaders are becoming much more extreme and nuanced in their demands that matters Jewish remain a “no free speech zone.” They fear that Europe’s anti-Israel mood will spread to conservative leaders like Glenn Beck. Like Foxman, liberal Jewish religious leaders have denounced Beck for what they consider borderline anti-Semitic inferences. Some 600 primarily Reform (secular) rabbis want Beck fired from FOX. His only crime is calling his enemies “Nazis” or describing abortion deaths as a “Holocaust.” Liberal Jewish propagandists claim that no genocide in history can compare to the evil that Nazis inflicted on the Jews. Beck’s use of “Holocaust” terms thus trivializes the near-deified memory of Jewish dead. Joseph Stalin authorized the assassination of countless opponents as he climbed the ladder of political power in Russia. The more he purged his enemies, the more sensitive he became to the smallest hint of disloyalty. At the end, a comrade who merely failed to look him straight in the eye was doomed as an enemy of the state. This is the paranoid destiny of America under Foxman, the new high executioner of thought correctness. Many American political and religious leaders are beginning to realize they are in the crosshairs of ADL, vulnerable to the slightest slip of tongue about Judaism or Israel. What should they do? The opposite of groveling Glenn Beck, who apologized for his true statement that Reform (secular) Jews are primarily political, not spiritual, in emphasis. They should follow the lead of fighters like Helen Thomas and even the train wreck that is Charlie Sheen. His demand for ADL’s apology may be fueled by “crack courage,” but it is courage nonetheless.

Part one: In 1918 Vladimir Lenin recorded and sent throughout Russia a phonograph record threatening death to any Russian who revealed the Jewish name of a Bolshevik leader. [1] A photo of the first People’s Commissariat at that time reveals the nearly total dominion of Jews over Bolshevism: All five were Jewish. (See Jewish Activists Created Communism) On February 24, actor Charlie Sheen committed an offense that would have sentenced him to death in Jewish-controlled Bolshevik Russia. In an internet radio interview he used the Jewish name (Chaim Levine) of Chuck Lorre, producer of his sitcom. Instantly, “Amerika’s” thought crime commissar, ADL head Abe Foxman, sprang into action. By invoking television producer Chuck Lorre’s Jewish name in the context of an angry tirade against him, Charlie Sheen left the impression that another reason for his dislike of Mr. Lorre is his Jewishness. This fact has no relevance to Mr. Sheen’s complaint or disagreement, and his words are at best bizarre, and at worst, borderline anti-Semitism. Unlike other public figures attacked with Foxman’s highly nuanced objections, Sheen demands an apology. His attorney Marty Singer says that Lorre referred to himself as Chaim on a vanity card in February and that Sheen’s statement was not anti-Semitic. Sheen says he was referring to Lorre’s real name “because I wanted to address the man, not the bulls**t TV persona.”Sheen himself was given another name at birth. “So you’re telling me, anytime someone calls me Carlos Estevez, I can claim they are anti-Latino?” Foxman would be well advised to apologize. In 2001 ADL smeared as anti-Semitic a Colorado filmmaker, William Quigley, whose career depended on good relations with Hollywood. Quigley sued and the court agreed that, since Hollywood was in fact Jewish-dominated, ADL had severely damaged his economic future. ADL was fined $10.5 million, a sum whose interest accrued to nearly $14 million after several years of appeals. (See Jews Confirm Big Media Is Jewish) On February 25, CBS canceled the final four tapings of Sheen’s sitcom. It could be argued that ADL’s accusations—not Sheen’s attention-getting behavior—is to blame. The smear of “anti-Semitism” could even lead to a boycott by entertainment media for the rest of Sheen’s life. The actor may be in an excellent position to sue ADL, perhaps demanding hundreds of millions. If the court agrees that Sheen has been maliciously stereotyped, ADL could suffer financially to a much greater degree than under the Quigley judgment. If Sheen decides to sue ADL, it will be a well-deserved legal whack on the snout. Even if Foxman realizes he has overstepped and apologizes, it will significantly tarnish his authority as speech crimes commissar.

Google Sheen's criminal record (going back to when he was expelled from high school) which includes banging a women's head into a marble floor. Yeah a real prince of a guy. I'd beat him like a punk marine with both arms tied behind my back. What kind of losers back this dirtbag up? Wimps.

Tim King: Nice comment Mills, isn't keyboard bravery great?  You get to be a real man for a little while as long as you don't have to reveal your name or show your face.  You are so impressive!

You chose to attack Tiger Woods, but defend Charlie Sheen... -inconsistency and judgement, impared by personal preferences.

Thanks Tim.. The post by righto is because he gets his info from corporate owned television. Its obvious. I heard Charlies' rant first hand on Alex Jones show last Sunday. I was going "right on bro!!" Its about time people in hollywood start speaking up, instead of being so afraid of israeli owned hollywood. Its obvious, Charlie spoke up about 911, and so they want to demonize him, since it exposes israel for their part in 911. Charlie was clean for something like ten years, he fell off the wagon and is completely sober now. 99% of those who work in the israeli owned hollywood are all screwed up..Charlie woke up to what was being done to him by these people who run hollywood and is standing up to them...GO CHARLIE! and GO ALEX JONES!!

Mills March 3, 2011 11:20 am (Pacific time)

I frankly could care less about this individual with the "Adonis DNA." His own words. But would you allow him to look after your small children? Most likely not ( a judge has ruled on this and Sheen lost joint custody), but as long as he does not break the law or harm others, no big deal. Too bad about the 200 plus employees of his TV show and their financial situation. Though sociopaths and their supporters never think beyond their own limited world view.

RIghto March 3, 2011 8:05 am (Pacific time)

So you identify with Sheen, one can only wonder why. He will die soon if he doesn't get the help he needs. Good luck to you.
