(PORTLAND, Ore.) - The Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Portland (HBA) bestowed its highest honor to Oregon builder Legend Homes at its fourth annual Excellence Awards on February 9th. Legend Homes was voted Builder of the Year for its contributions to the association and for the leadership role it played in the state's first episode of ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." Hundreds of volunteers expressed their written support of the way Legend Homes managed this monumental project. As the contractor for the site, Legend Homes coordinated the efforts of over 2000 HBA members and community volunteers, including Oregon State University's NCAA Championship Baseball team. Legend Homes and the volunteers built a 4,000-square-foot green home in just 98 hours, receiving overwhelming praise on a local, state and national level. The Builder of the Year Award honors a HBA Member for outstanding leadership and community involvement and philanthropy. For decades Legend Homes has given thousands of dollars and thousands of in-kind gifts. Founded in Portland, Oregon in 1965, Legend Homes is the award-winning builder of more than 12,000 home sites, homes, town homes and condominiums in planned communities throughout Portland and Corvallis.
